Jason Potts is husband, father, healthcare leader, the Alderman representing Ward 3 in the City of Franklin.
Elected to office in October 2021, Jason has worked hard to ensure Franklin’s neighborhoods and families are kept safe, improve our roads, reduce traffic congestion, protect open space, expand the city’s park system, and make developers pay more for impacts on our community.
As a member of the Board of Mayor and Alderman, Jason currently serves on the City of Franklin’s Budget and Finance Committee, Franklin Housing Commission and Beer Board. This year Jason was unanimously selected by his colleagues to serves as the Vice Mayor for the City of Franklin.
Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master's in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. He has earned a Leadership Excellence Certificate from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. He is is a graduate of the City of Franklin – Citizens Government Academy.
He is a founding member of the Franklin Alliance of Home Owners Associations for Ward 3, and previously served in numerous roles on the Maplewood Home Owners Association: President (2 terms), Vice-President, Pool Chairman and Open Space & Lake Chairman. Jason started Maplewood’s partnership with the Franklin Police for the Neighborhood Watch Program and Bike Safety Program.
Jason has served on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: Middle Tennessee State University Alumni Association (2 terms); Spina Bifida Association; Williamson County Soccer Association, Boys & Girls Club and the Centennial High School Cougar Athletic Club.
He has served as the announcer for Centennial High School football, men’s and women’s soccer and girl’s flag football. He also volunteers with the Hard Bargain Association.
Jason and his wife, Amy, have lived in Franklin for 20 years. They have three children (Carter, Sarah, and Owen) who have all attended schools in both the Franklin Special and Williamson County School systems. Carter is a newly commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force having graduated from the Air Force Academy this May. Sarah is beginning her second year at Auburn. Owen is a junior at Centennial High School and plays for the Tennessee Soccer Club and the Tennessee Olympic Development Soccer Program.
